TCO explained

TCO

We develop products from the idea to offer our clients the lowest possible total cost of ownership; that is to say the lowest total cost during the service life of the unit.

A well considered choice

All too often, the sole consideration when acquiring a heat-recovery unit is the purchase price. Focusing only on the lowest purchase price can mean that you are later confronted with higher running costs than you had bargained for. By considering all costs associated with your investment in advance, you can have the peace of mind of having made the right decision.

The TCO can be calculated by adding up all costs likely to be incurred during the life cycle of the unit. We categorize all costs into the following types:

Initial investment (purchase)

All costs associated with the acquisition of the unit, its installation and commissioning.

Running costs

Running costs are those costs that are incurred when using the heat-recovery unit. These are basically all energy costs associated with typical AHU components such as; fans, LPHW coils (boiler power), chilled water coils (chiller/condensor power).

Maintenance costs

These are the costs associated with keeping the unit in good working order. Keeping the unit's service record up to date, will ensure the optimum working condition throughout the unit`s life cycle. Filters must be replaced in good time, while heat exchangers, fans and other components must be kept as clean as possible in order to guarantee optimum heat transfer. The settings of the control equipment must also be inspected on a regular basis, and updated when necessary to synchronise a comfortable working and living environment with an energy efficient AHU control strategy.

Removal costs

The costs associated with removal and recycling of the unit at the end of its service life. The materials and components used will give the unit years of efficient operation, whitst the housing also allows simple disassembly for ease of waste recycling.
